About Melissa Su
Hello, and welcome
I’m so glad you found your way here.
I’m Melissa Su, a writer of uplifting contemporary fiction inspired by the extraordinary moments hidden within ordinary lives. My debut novel explores second chances, family, resilience, friendship, and the unexpected ways love can find us when we least expect it.
If you’d told me a few years ago that I’d be writing a novel, I would never have believed you.
Like so many people, life has always been wonderfully busy-working in adult social care, a profession I once loved but one that has gradually chipped away at me over the years, and raising my family as a single mum, I often found very little time for myself.
Then, quite unexpectedly, a story found me.
It began in the very same car park where my debut novel, Tuesday Evening Car Park, begins.
Every Tuesday evening, while sitting in my car waiting for my daughter to finish her volleyball training, my imagination began to wander. Week after week, characters introduced themselves, conversations unfolded in my mind, and before I knew it, an ordinary car park had become the birthplace of a story I simply had to bring to life.
As each chapter grows, I realise I’m not just writing a novel.
I’m creating somewhere I could escape to.
A place filled with hope, laughter, friendship and the quiet reminder that even after life’s hardest moments, happiness can still find us.
On the difficult days, writing has become my refuge. It shelters me from the world for a little while. It has reminded me that kindness still exists, that ordinary people can change each other’s lives in extraordinary ways, and that hope often arrives when we least expect it.
Perhaps that’s why this story means so much to me.
It didn’t just give me characters to fall in love with.
It gave me somewhere to breathe again.
This website isn’t simply about a finished book.
Its about the journey of writing one.
Here, i’ll be sharing every milestone-from first drafts, and countless grammar mistakes, to moments of inevitable self-doubt and the excitement of finally typing The End. If you’ve ever wondered what it’s really like to write novel from the very beginning, i’d love for you to come along for the journey.
My greatest hope is that one day, when you open my book, you’ll find the same comfort within its pages that I found while writing it.
I’ve always believed that the best stories stay with us long after we’ve turned the final page. If one day a reader closes one of my books feeling a little lighter, more hopeful, or simply a little less alone, then every word will have been worth writing.
Thank you for being here at the very beginning
It means more than you’ll ever know.
With Love,
Melissa Su
Every story starts somewhere. Mine started in a car park on a Tuesday evening
